Happy Anniversary Baby (Girl), I’ve got you on my mind

On Saturday, March 15th, 2008- one year ago today, Baby Girl came into rescue and into our lives. I drove almost 2 hours in a horrible rain storm to pick up a sick pug who was being surrendered to SouthEast Pug Rescue & Adoption (SEPRA). Her owners loved her, but weren’t able to provide for her medically. It was love at first sight for me! I can vividly remember seeing her sitting in the back seat of their car. Baby Girl rode in my lap the whole way home (which normally I make all my pugs ride in either a crate or a car seat), but Baby Girl was Baby Girl and she wanted in my lap. She spent the night with us and I was absolutely smitten by that point. Plans had already been made that I would take Baby Girl to Atlanta the next day to meet another SEPRA volunteer and Baby Girl had an appointment with one of the SEPRA vets to evaluate her medical condition on that Monday. I did drive her to Atlanta, but by the time I got home, I was already on the phone making arrangements to go back and pick her up! Unfortunately, Baby Girl was diagnosed with a Collapsed Trachea so it was decided that she would stay with us forever as a Hospice Pug. We love her so much and at the time, I wasn’t even sure that she’d make it a year, but with the marvels of modern medicine & a titanium stent, she has! We hope that Baby Girl has many more years with us. So Happy Anniversary Baby Girl-I love you!!!!!
