So Extreme Makeover Home Edition rolled into Chattanooga, TN to surprise the Sharrock family of Rossville, GA with an Extreme Makeover. I arrived on site Sunday around 7:00pm. EM Security had control of entrance points. Heavy equipment was on site and there was already so much work that had been done. The family’s belongings were being packed up into a moving van for storage and there rest of the things in the house were put into a dumptser. Literally, everything had to come out to get ready for the demo tomorrow. The utility companies were there in full force cutting power to the house, running temporary power, running a gas line, cutting the water to the house and getting ready for a new water meter. At night the place will be light up like a football field. The neighbors were offered hotel rooms for the week, but several stayed so they could be apart of the excitement. I’ll post more later.
You can follow everything at Extreme Vision Homes
On the first night, I was there from 7:00pm to 10:30pm.

Thursday night Extreme Makeover Home Edition descended upon the Chattanooga area. ABC Network, Vision Homes, and local businesses hosted the Big Hearts pep rally. More to come as this unfolds.
Update: Several people told me that they saw me on TV and I said, “No, I am sure that it wasn’t me.” Well, it was. I am at about the .40 sec mark. http://www.wrcbtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13968297#

We got 8″ of snow this week. Yes, you heard me EIGHT inches! And not only did we get that much snow, but it has stuck around for days. This is day three and it feels like it will never melt. I was walking around the yard today and I could not find my yard pug, but then I saw it’s little face sticking out of the snow. Dear little yard puggie, if you weren’t made of cement and so heavy, I would have tried to dig you out from all the white stuff and bring you inside.

Saturday was our annual Chattanooga Pugs social at Bone Appetit Bakery. Bone Appetit is located on Frazier Ave in Chattanooga and has not only homemade treats, but a wonderful assortment of canine items. They are always so wonderful to host us each January. It is usually too cold to meet outside this time of year and today was no exception-we had snow flurries so we enjoyed ourselves inside. Lola & I got to kick off the New Year with some old friends and meet some new pugs too!
Here is Lola’s friend Jack who was looking very stylish-kind of like a punk rock pug.

So a new year has started and plenty of people make New Year’s Resolutions to do this and that, but I started my year off with a bang~a huge piece of cake. I am sure that most people are sitting around thinking about how they are going to start working out in the new year (I promise that I’ll hit the gym next week), we decided to make our yearly trip to the City Cafe Diner. Their portions are huge and you get so much food that we can only go there once a year. They also have the most fantastic deserts. I always get a piece of the Sampler Cake: chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, vanilla frosting with a strawberry frosting, and then topped with a layer of cheese cake and more frosting. It usually takes me a couple of days to eat this and I can’t imagine how many calories, but it’s all worth it.

Residents of Chattanooga, TN woke up to a White Christmas this year. I could not believe my eyes when we got up this morning. I was so excited, but the pugs not so much. Lola did run around some (she was wearing the pink coat). Baby Girl was just too cold (wearing the brown coat). And Violet was not fond of the snowing falling in her face (wearning the green coat). Do you know how hard it is to get three pugs to potty when it is in the 20s and snowing?

On December 4th, Lola & I were in the MainX24 Parade. This was our second year in the parade. Last year it was snowing, this year it was raining. We stuck it out and joined the Chattanooga DoGood group to walk down Main Street.

On October 23rd, we were out and about in the Scenic City and guess what? Posha is back! Yes, this Chihuahua is back on the town at Greenlife Grocery’s Barktoberfest! This time, my friend decided to keep her fingers and I ventured into Posha’s domain for a pet. Yes, she bit me, but I was excited that I got to pet her! She is like a furry stuffed sausage. Posha, I love you!
So back to Barktoberfest. My friend’s pug, Pippa, won a costume contest and got a back full of goodies. Lola and I were a little jealous, but since I didn’t even really dress up Lola, I could only blame myself.

Today, Victoria Stilwell was at McKamey Animal Care & Adoption Center talking about positive reinforcement dog training. She is an amazing speaker, trainer, and advocate. She also did a book signing-that’s me in the photo with her!
You can click on the photo and it will take you to my flickr page with additional photos.

I guess it is a good thing that I am so far behind in my blogging because I got my mom one of these sculptures for Christmas (hers was of a cat) so I really could not “advertise” what I had gotten her back in October. But anyway…a friend of mine and I went to the McKamey Animal Care and Adoption Center’s Paws Around the World event. It was very nice and worth every center for the price of a ticket. They have fabulous buffet tables set up with different themes of food. A local artist had created these metal sculptures as center pieces on each table. You could “adopt” a dog or a cat and the money went for a good cause-real dogs and cats that need homes. The real center of attention was the guest speaker, Victoria Stilwell from “It’s Me or the Dog” television show. She is well known positive reinforcement dog trainer, but she is also an advocate for animal welfare. More about Victoria Stilwell in the next post…
