010811 PUG SOCIAL AT BONE APPETIT (34)

Saturday was our annual Chattanooga Pugs social at Bone Appetit Bakery. Bone Appetit is located on Frazier Ave in Chattanooga and has not only homemade treats, but a wonderful assortment of canine items. They are always so wonderful to host us each January. It is usually too cold to meet outside this time of year and today was no exception-we had snow flurries so we enjoyed ourselves inside. Lola & I got to kick off the New Year with some old friends and meet some new pugs too!

Here is Lola’s friend Jack who was looking very stylish-kind of like a punk rock pug.

122510 MERRY WHITE CHRISTMAS (7)

Originally uploaded by Papa’s Pugs

Residents of Chattanooga, TN woke up to a White Christmas this year. I could not believe my eyes when we got up this morning. I was so excited, but the pugs not so much. Lola did run around some (she was wearing the pink coat). Baby Girl was just too cold (wearing the brown coat). And Violet was not fond of the snowing falling in her face (wearning the green coat). Do you know how hard it is to get three pugs to potty when it is in the 20s and snowing?

We look Violet to the beach for Thankgiving holidays. She is the most perfect pug. We are pretty sure she though that she was adopted by a family that lived in Florida. Sadly our vacation was short lived and we had to go back to Tennessee where it was freezing cold.

Doggie Paddle at Warner Park

Yes, the dogs can go in the pool! I think that this was our 3rd or 4th year for Doggie Paddle at Warner Park. On the last day of the season, Warner Park opens the pool to dogs and their owners to come swimming. There is a small admission fee and all the proceeds go to The McKamey Care & Adoption Center. This year Lola and I went to enjoy some sun and then cool off in the water. I will readily admit that Lola does not love it, but it is fun for me to take her so she endures it.

Lola at PDX

Originally uploaded by Papa’s Pugs

Tonight was our second class at Play Dog Excellent. I just feed Lola enough so that she did not have to sit and watch Baby Girl eat her diner and feel left out. Instead of the hot dog for bait, I had cut up a little bit of the Natural Balance duck and potato food roll. So as great as Lola did last week, she bombed this week. The bait was crumbling into pieces and was just messy. Several times, she acted like she had never heard the word “Sit.” Nancy was so great to work with us after class on the down command. After what seemed like an eternity, Lola finally did it. Now for me to replicate the command at home!

And once again, Baby Girl was mad that we took Lola somewhere without her.

Lola’s First Training Session at PDX

Last night was Lola’s first Basic Obedience Class at Play Dog Excellent. I had gone to the orientation last week so I knew what to bring as far as collar, leash, treats, etc. I got her all natural, kosher hot dogs and cut them into tiny pieces for bait (the training word for food rewards). They said not to feed your dog before class, but Andre’ did not know this and feed her dinner. Oh well, she was still Ga-Ga over the hot dog! Andre’ and I went for the first session-Sit, Down, Leave It, Take It, and Here. She did so great on everything except for Down. She was either not grasping the concept or just being stubborn. We were all exhausted after an hour of stimulation and commands.

Baby Girl proceeded to punish us by ignoring us when we got home!

Happy 6th Birthday Lola

Happy Birthday Lola Bug!!! It is sad, but Dogster sent me an email reminder that it was my own baby’s birthday. This propelled me into a tailspin to call Bone Appetit to get her a cake made, run to the other side of town to pick it up, get her some birthday treats, and get home to pull the camera out! Lola loved her cake with yogurt icing and her new party dress. What she loved most of all was two bully sticks! Happy Bithday little girl! We love you.
